Homecoming services, Emancipation Day celebration, Loudoun County Community Equity Forum

Homecoming services: Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Hamilton will hold its Homecoming Services on Sunday, Sept. 13. Rev. Reginald A. Early, the pastor of Mount Zion Hamilton will be preaching at the 11 a.m. service. The afternoon service will start at 3, featuring Rev. Henry Hall from First Spring Baptist Church of Warrenton. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.
Emancipation Day celebration: Plans are under way for the Emancipation Day celebration on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Carver School in Purcellville. Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeline Albright will be the featured speaker. Vendors and volunteers are needed. Please contact Reginald Simms at 540-338-2370 for more information.
Loudoun County Community Equity Forum: On Tuesday, Sept. 22, 4:45-8:30 p.m., in recognition of the NAACP's 100th year, the Loudoun County Branch NAACP will hold a community forum on equity in Loudoun County at George Washington University, Virginia Campus (Room 101, 20101 Academic Way, Ashburn). Come and share your views of what equity should be in our county, ask questions and get answers. The presenters will be Beverly Bennett-Roberts, nationally recognized equity trainer and consultant; Paul C. Gorski, president-elect of the National Association for Multi-Cultural Education, assistant professor at George Mason University, and founder of several equity organizations; and Jerry L. Hill, 30-year Loudoun County Public Schools teacher and administrator, champion of equity in civic organizations throughout the county, and principal of Ball's Bluff Elementary School.
