Leesburg approves Meadowbrook development

By a 4-3 vote, the Leesburg Town Council put to bed a six-year-long struggle of what should be done with the Meadowbrook property.

With the vote, a Traditional Design Option was approved for the area in southwest Leesburg bounded by South King Street, Masons Lane and Evergreen Mill Road.

Under the TDO, developer Washington-VA Tradition Sites will build up to 402 homes at a density of 1.6 per one acre.

In addition, Meadowbrook will allow the right of way for the Battlefield Parkway and other transportation improvements.

A contribution of nearly $3.3 million will be made for schools in the area.

The development's approval means that Washington-VA Traditional Sites will drop a lawsuit it has against the town for refusing to accept several by-right plans for the development through the years.
