Western Loudoun welcomes Inova Urgent Care in Purcellville

Patients from Lovettsville, said nurse Julie Vaughan, have been particularly happy to bring their scratches, cuts, coughs and sprains to Inova’s just-opened Urgent Care Center in Purcellville rather than trekking to Leesburg.

The Inova Urgent Care on Hirst Road is seeing eight to 10 patients a day, Dr. Cheryl Taitano, the on-duty physician, said Nov. 5.

The urgent care center occupies 1,500 square feet of the 45,000-square-foot medical office building built by Purcellville’s John Chapman. Inova has leased 15,000 feet and will expand the center as demand grows. Inova plans to add diagnostic imaging to the center’s capabilities before the end of the year.

For now, Taitano said, “We see the usual urgent care stuff – coughs, colds, flu, headaches, UTIs [urinary tract infections], back pain, sprains, fractures.”

The center has a lab for tests. The building also houses a cardiology practice and a pediatrics group. The pediatric office includes a pediatric sleep center that will draw patients from the entire region.

The Purcellville Urgent Care Center marks another step in building out the health care services called for in Loudoun’s Comprehensive Plan, said James Rohrbaugh, Inova Loudoun Hospital vice president for operations and chief growth officer. A Lovettsville urgent care is coming when suitable office space is found.
