Spartans' baseball season ends
Broad Run fell in an early 5-0 hole and was unable to dig out in a 7-2 loss to host Sherando in the Region II baseball quarterfinals May 25 in Stephens City.
Junior pitcher Chase Warren took the loss, allowing five earned runs in two-plus innings. Nick Richardson drove home Conor Jessop with the Spartans' first run. Broad Run added a solo run in the seventh.
The Spartans end the season at 12-10, marking their sixth straight winning campaign.
Broad Run will graduate three seniors -- Andrew Hathaway, Chris Jessop and Patrick Murphy.
