On Exhibit
Art galleries and exhibits are found throughout Loudoun. Here is a rundown of what is showing where and for how long. Art in the Foothills. Art in the Foothills, a juried show and sale featuring area artists working in a variety of media, will be May 8-10 in The Stable at Bluemont Vineyard, 18755 Foggy Bottom Road, across from Great Country Farms. There will be complimentary wine. Hours are Friday, May 8, 10 a.m.-6 p.m; and Saturday-Sunday, May 9-10, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. A reception will be Saturday, 2-5 p.m., with music by The Saw Mill Gang. An exhibit of watercolor paintings by leading area artists will run through May 30 at Gallery 222. S. King St. in Leesburg.
This spring exhibit features original paintings by 11 watercolorists: Rachel Collins, Jean Gill, Catherine Hillis, Dell Keathley, Christine Lashley, Mary MacDonnell, Elaine Nunnally, Edith Symes, Harold Symes, Peter Ulrich and Antonia Walker.
Also, paintings by Kathi Scholz Fertig will be featured in Gallery two. Works in that exhibit, "Eostre Musings," represent the artist's musings on spring.
Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and by appointment.

Paul Landry exhibit. Medlin Art Gallery, 2 Loudoun St. in Leesburg, is hosting an exhibit and sale of works by nationally recognized nostalgic artist Paul Landry through mid-May. Landry’s romantic imagery re-creates the not-too-distant past. This show will feature his newest releases, as well as a collection of his originals and previously published artwork. Loudoun Sketch Club. The Loudoun Sketch Club Art Show is on exhibit at the Loudoun County Government Building lobby at 1 Harrison St. in Leesburg. Artwork can be seen and purchased through June 26. Log on to www.loudounsketchclub.com.
Maggio exhibit. Prudential Carruthers Realtors, 4 E. Colonial Highway in Hamilton, is exhibiting the work of Tia Maggio through May. Maggio attended Pratt Institute in New York City and earned a degree in fine art and art history from the University of Massachusetts. She has been a pastel artist for 23 years. Her pastels of sloping Piedmont hills and Scottish skies have been exhibited in Northern Virginia and New York City, and are in private collections in the United States, Italy and France. 'Eye on the News.' Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville will host an opening reception and art exhibit for local artist L. Claire Kincannon on Saturday, May 30, 2-5 p.m. The exhibit, “Eye on the News,” will continue through June 17. The arts center is at 36441 Blueridge View Lane.
Kincannon’s paintings often tell a story. She calls them narrative landscapes; they involve her emotional reaction to people, places and news stories. Her career as an interior designer inspires textures and colors; and objects such as corks, wire, sand, leaves and flowers find their way into her paintings.
Also, June 20-21, Kincannon will be at Gallery 222, at 222 S. King St. in Leesburg, as part of the Western Loudoun Artists Studio Tour.

Western Loudoun Artists Studio Tour. The Western Loudoun Artists Studio Tour takes place Saturday, June 20, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, June 21, noon-5 p.m. It includes studios from Leesburg to Round Hill, including the Loudoun Academy of the Arts, Franklin Park Arts Center and the Round Hill Arts Center.
Visit working studios of more than 40 talented artists and view paintings, pottery, sculpture and jewelry. Participants will be able to talk with the artists, purchase artwork, view demonstrations, take part in hands-on activities or win a door prize.
This year, there will be an online auction featuring works by all the tour artists at www.wlast.org, May 23-June 19. Those who bid on artwork will automatically be entered in a drawing for a door prize.
There is no charge to participate.

Currier & Ives harness racing exhibit. The National Sporting Library in Middleburg has an exhibit of more than 30 rare, original Currier & Ives lithographs on display through July 3 in the Forrest E. Mars Sr. Exhibit Hall. The exhibit title is “The Story of Harness Racing by Currier & Ives." The library, at 102 The Plains Road, is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday 1-4 p.m. Admission is free. The Museum of Sporting Art at Vine Hill next door is open by appointment during library hours. Call 540-687-6542.
Katherine Marshall exhibit. The exhibit "Katherine T. Marshall, First Lady of the Army" is at the George C. Marshall International Center at Dodona Manor, a museum and former home to Gen. and Mrs. George C. Marshall.
Featuring photos and memorabilia never before displayed at Dodona Manor, the exhibit chronicles the life of Katherine Marshall from birth in Harrodsburg, Ky., to her death in Leesburg. It highlights her experiences at college, in an English Shakespeare repertory company, as the wife and widow of a prominent Baltimore attorney, as the mother of three children, and as the wife of Gen. George C. Marshall.
The exhibit will be open until September, Saturdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sundays 1-5 p.m. The last tour begins at 4 p.m. Group tours are booked in advance on weekdays.
