On Exhibit

Art galleries and exhibits are found throughout Loudoun and Fairfax. Here is a rundown of what is showing where and for how long: Stevens exhibit. Hillsborough Vineyards in Purcellville will offer an exhibit of the works of artist Libby Stevens Sept. 6-28. A reception for the artist takes place 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7.

Stevens' work focuses on still lifes and Loudoun scenes. Hillsborough Vineyards is at 36716 Charles Town Pike.

Medlin Art. Medlin Art, 2 Loudoun St. in Leesburg, announces its eighth annual "Students of Margaret Meade" art show Sept. 6-13. An opening reception will be Sept. 6, 3-5 p.m.

Meade is a well-known artist and instructor from Centreville.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.

Voss family exhibit. National Sporting Library is offering the exhibit "The Voss Family: Artists of American Sporting Life," featuring more than 60 works of art by this prolific family of sporting artists who depicted the champions of the American turf and other sporting subjects.

The exhibit brings together works by the Voss family from three museums and almost 30 private lenders. The National Sporting Library owns three paintings in the exhibition, including "Mrs. William C. Langley on Sandown" (1921), a portrait of horsewoman Elida Langley riding sidesaddle while fox hunting on Long Island.

An accompanying catalog of the exhibition will be available for sale at the library.

The exhibit is free. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday, 1-4 p.m.

'Under Construction.' Michael Beckner's exhibit "Under Construction" includes acrylic paintings of bridges, roads, buildings, overpasses and construction sites. The exhibit is presented by the George Washington University Virginia Campus in partnership with Gallery 222/Loudoun Academy of the Arts. It runs through Sept. 30. 'Get Real Show ?An Exhibit of Realism.' An opening reception for Gallery 222's "Get Real Show" will be Friday, Sept. 5, 6-9 p.m. during Leesburg's First Friday Gallery Walk. The show runs Sept. 5-27 at the gallery at 222 S. King St. in Leesburg.

This exhibit features original works by Conor Backman, Tim Chambers, Michael Davis, Jonathan Linton, Sarita Moffat, Ann Noel, Sherry Sanabria, Kurt Schwarz, Libby Stevens, Jeffery Stockberger, Dana Thompson and Daniel Williams.

'Leesburg: Crossroad of Tradition and Transition.' Loudoun Museum's new exhibit celebrates Leesburg's 250th anniversary. It opens with a reception in the museum and its gardens Friday, Sept. 5, 6-8 p.m. The museum's address is 16 Loudoun St. Call 703-777-7427 or log on to www.loudounmuseum.org.


NOVA faculty: Faculty at the Loudoun Campus of Northern Virginia Community College will be displaying their artwork in Waddell Art Gallery through Sept. 12.

The exhibitors, representing programs in communication design and fine arts, include Matthew Best, Patti Chisholm, Donald Depuydt, Rebecca Freeman, Jackie Gage, Lauren Jacobs, Brian Kirk, Veronica Morrison, Joan Petro, Shelley Stevens, Dwayne Treadway, Julia Turner, David Whipple and Cathy Wilkin. The exhibit features examples of ceramics, painting, printmaking, digital photography, graphic design, sculpture and stained glass. The campus is at 1000 Harry Byrd Highway in Sterling, and the gallery is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
