Woman shows up at former employer's house with gun

A 39-year-old Ashburn woman is in custody after she showed up at a former employer’s home with a gun.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the 18500 block of Seminole Court in Leesburg around 10:30 a.m. May 31 for an incident where a woman showed up at her former boss's home.

A husband and wife and their daughter were inside the house. The daughter ran to a neighbor’s house where they called the police. The woman held the husband and wife at gunpoint for about 30 minutes.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office established a perimeter around the residence and made contact with the woman. The woman was eventually taken into custody and the gun was recovered. No one was injured in the incident.

The woman is currently being held on a temporary detention order at a local hospital pending a mental evaluation. The incident remains under investigation.

Wow.. I read a while back that someone brought some guns to a school , then I am reading about some folks strapping on a firearm and going about their business at a pizza parlor by making a point about their rights. Now this... What is this obsession with guns. I am all for the 2nd amendment - but this kind of news is not what our foundning fathers ment - when they created this provision.

If the couple had been armed then a lot of tax dollars may not have been wasted on having to have a swat team in the first place. People need to exercise their rights to arm themselves, then maybe the bad guys would think twice before doing something stupid.

Violence is definitely not the answer... but this situation (based on the disclosed information) should be a wake-up call for bosses, managers, supervisors, and anyone else with authority. Just remember that you as well as your employees have lives outside of work and should be treated fairly at all times. Life is too short to have someone so mad with you that they need to get their point across with a firearm.
