PNC opens in Dulles


PNC Bank opened a new Dulles 28 branch May 17 at 22045 Dulles Plaza Retail, near Wegmans.

One of PNC's “green” branches, this is an environmentally friendly location that recycles more than 50 percent of materials used, uses high-efficiency systems and insulation, and is built from eco-friendly materials.


New therapy practice


State of the Art Physical Therapy opened recently at 20098 Ashbrook Place, Suite 190, Ashburn, with Arthur Bronsord at the helm. Bronsord has been in practice since 1986 and working in Loudoun County since 1989. His experience ranges from arthritis to post-operative care.

Apple Federal honored


Apple Federal Credit Union has been selected as one of seven finalists for the 2008 Helios Apollo Award for a midsize company.

The Helios Awards recognize Washington-area organizations that promote a value-added, ongoing learning environment within their organization to benefit employees.

Winners will be announced June 6 during a breakfast ceremony hosted by Helios at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church.

Apple Federal Credit Union has two locations in the county – Town Center, 43330 Junction Plaza, and 21361 Gentry Place, Sterling.


Old Country Peddler


The Old Country Peddler has moved to 3 N. King St., directly across from the old Loudoun County courthouse. The shop was previously located at 12 S. King St.

The store, which specializes in Virginia-made gourmet food, country-themed gifts and home furniture and furnishings, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.


Business One Stop


Virginia’s Business One Stop, an online portal to assist in the formation of new businesses in the commonwealth, was launched May 13 by Gov. Tim Kaine (D).

Business One Stop collects users’ information, then provides and fills out the business-formation forms required by 80 percent of new businesses. The Virginia Enterprise Applications Program has worked to manage the formation of this initial system.

This portal is available under the Business tab of the Commonwealth’s home page, www.virginia.gov, and will also be available as a link from many agency Web sites.


Fortress moves in


Fortress Technologies, a provider of security and secure wireless solutions, announced May 6 that it is expanding its presence in the Washington, D.C., area with new office space in Lansdowne at 19420 Golf Vista Plaza.

Fortress provides secure wireless solutions and professional services to government agencies including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Texas National Guard and the U.S. Army, Marine Corps and Navy. Fortress maintains its headquarters in Tampa, Fla., and technology development center outside of Boston.
