Varsity Rewind: May 6 games

Baseball

Potomac Falls 12, Dominion 4: The Panthers recorded a convincing home win versus the third-place Titans. Mike Detaranto earned the win, going five-plus innings. Dominion scored three in the sixth to bring the score to 6-4, but the Panthers responded with six runs in their half, including a three-run triple off the bat of Chris Pelto.

Broad Run 3, Park View 2: The Spartans scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh. JP Devlin started for Broad Run, working 5.2 innings in a no-decision. Cole Shain struck out two of the four batters he faced in relief to earn his sixth win. Devlin and Trey Brocke each collected two hits in the effort, with Brocke swiping two bases.

Heritage 13, Freedom 3 (5 inn.): Andrew Zarobila picked up the victory for the Pride.


Softball

Broad Run 7, Park View 0: The Spartans scored four first-inning runs with two outs, then followed with Anna Blessing's three-run blast in support of Caitlyn Delahaba's one-hit, two-walk shutout. Broad Run clinched the Dulles District regular season title after winning their 46th consecutive game. Laura Heironimus took the loss, though sister Robin tossed four shutout innings of relief for the Patriots.

Loudoun County 7, Briar Woods 2: Lindsey Holtz went the distance for the Raiders, allowing a run on five hits. County countered with nine hits, including three from Taylor Grimmell, who drove in three on the night. Jillian Olson had two RBIs for the Falcons.


Boys' soccer

Heritage 3, Freedom 0: The Pride dented the net three times in the game's final 10 minutes. Amadu Bangaru contributed two assists while Luis Rodriguez added a helper and a goal. Heritage moves a step closer to claiming the Dulles District regular season title with the win.

Battlefield 3, Loudoun Valley 2: Viking goalie Nathan Bergel stopped 10 Battlefield shots, while Connor Trombly and Kevin Esoda notched goals for Valley.

Dominion 2, Potomac Falls 0: Tommy Kowalick and Tony Hasper tallied for the Titans in their shutout of the Panthers.
