Two fiestas, a pancake breakfast, a film festival, faculty basketball, and SOL tests

Fiesta de Mayo: Jabberu, a children's language center that recently opened in Ashburn, will be hosting Fiesta de Mayo this Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event will be a celebration of Latin American cultures and is open to all children ages 4 to 8. Jabberu's native Spanish-speaking instructors will lead the children through games and traditional hands-on crafts. Children will learn how to greet all of their new friends in Spanish, sing traditional Latin American songs, and hear traditional Latin American stories.

Another fiesta: Crossroads United Methodist Church will hold a fiesta this Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be craft vendors, a bazaar, games for the kids, food and more. The church is located at 43454 Crossroads Drive in Ashburn Farm.
Pancake breakfast: The Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department will hold its monthly all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast this Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon at the firehouse. The theme is Happy Mother's Day! and the menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon and much more. The cost is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for ages 3-8 and free for children under 3.
Film festival: Beth Chaverim Reform Congregation, located at 21740 Beaumeade Circle, Suite 100, is sponsoring a Jewish Film Festival featuring topics related to interfaith and multicultural relationships. Flms made in Belgium, Germany, Israel, France and the United States will be shown Saturday, May 10, at 7 p.m.; Thursday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. Admission fee is $8. Faculty basketball: Here's looking ahead to some basketball excitement you won't want to miss. The fearless Farmwell Station faculty will take on the brave Belmont Ridge faculty this Saturday at Broad Run High School. The game tips off at 7 p.m., but the doors open at 6 p.m. There are several different ticket packages for sale. To order tickets or for more information, visit www.loudoun.k12.va.us/farmwell.
