Painter survives electrocution

A painter survived electrocution at the White Palace Restaurant in Purcellville the morning of May 6, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Dustin Sternbeck said.

While painting on the rooftop around 9:30 a.m., the man touched a high-voltage power line and was electrocuted.

The victim received initial treatment for his burns on the roof. Then rescue workers took him off the rooftop using a ladder truck, and he received more medical care on the ground. He was transported by helicopter to Washington Hospital Center.

The accident is being investigated by Purcellville police and Virginia Occupational Safety and Health.
