Nursing center celebrates seniors

Inova Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg will celebrate National Nursing Home Week starting May 9 with a Mother's Day tea party and ending May 16 with a Songs of Love singalong and community picnic with live country music.

The highlight May 9 is the Mother's Day Victorian Tea party. Activities continue every day. The following Friday, the singalong starts at 10:30 a.m., the picnic starts at 5 p.m. and the live country band chimes in at 7 p.m. Leesburg Mayor Kristen Umstattd and Del. Joe May (R-western Loudoun) will join in the fun.

Activities Coordinator Mabel Costello said she hopes the Leesburg community will celebrate with her residents, staff and volunteers.

The 100-bed nursing and rehabilitation center has 40 beds for short-term rehabilitation patients, and 60 beds for long-term nursing home patients. They are, Costello said, the teachers, business people, parents and leaders who "produced all the good things we now enjoy. It is with great pride we celebrate them."

The center is at the rear of the Inova Western Loudoun Medical Campus. Enter from Memorial Drive off West Market Street, or from Old Waterford Road. Call Costello, 703-779-5423, for details.
