Middleburg News: town hosts public hearing on tax rates and fees

Public input session

Town council continued budget and rate discussions at its May 5 work session. The town has proposed a cigarette tax increase from 35 cents to 50 cents per pack and raising utility user fees by 6 percent and utility availability fees by 8 percent.

The council will host a public hearing in council chambers at Town Hall May 22 starting around 6 p.m.

If approved by council, the budget, tax rates and fees will go into effect July 1.
