Digging into history

Just in time to celebrate Leesburg's 250th birthday, archaeologist David Clark is offering his "Field Techniques in Archeology" at the Loudoun campus of the Northern Virginia Community College. Students will delve into the area's rich heritage and learn techniques to preserve what remains of the past. The class includes walking surveys and test excavations at numerous sites across the county.

Clark also teaches at Catholic University, and is the founder and director of the Loudoun Archaeological Foundation (www.loudounarcheologicalfoundation.org )

History 188 starts May 20, and meets Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30 to 9 p.m. Apply on line at www.nvcc.edu .
