Bulldogs win baseball championship

Stone Bridge extended its record to 5-0 with a 13-0 road decision March 24 versus West Potomac in the title game of the Alexandria City Baseball Championship.

The game was originally scheduled for March 19, but was postponed due to rain.

Ty Weaver notched his first victory of the season, striking out seven and allowing one hit in four innings.

Seven Bulldogs combined for 10 hits and eight different Bulldogs drove in runs. Stone Bridge benefited from five Wolverine miscues during the abbreviated five-inning contest, which was played under chilly conditions.

The Bulldogs won all five of their games in the season-opening tournament, outscoring opponents 63-8. Their 5-0 record is the best start in the program's eight-year history.

The Bulldogs open Liberty District play with a road game March 28 against McLean.
