Two Loudoun County men were arrested and charged with armed robbery March 20 after an incident that occurred at a residence on Edwards Ferry Road.
Around 9:22 p.m., the victim, a 38-year-old Leesburg resident, reported that someone knocked on her door. When she answered the door, two men forced their way into the residence, she said. One of the men was armed with a large knife and grabbed the victim and held her while the other man began to search her residence.
According to the victim, the suspects took various prescription medications and left the residence. The victim called 911 and watched the suspects as they drove away at a high rate of speed in a sports utility vehicle. The victim was not injured during the event.
An officer on patrol at the time who was not responding to the robbery call saw a vehicle exit The Fields of Leesburg apartments by driving through the grass, over a curb and across a sidewalk onto Plaza Street. He pulled the vehicle over near the Shell gas station at the corner of Plaza and East Market streets.
Further investigation revealed that the two occupants of the vehicle were the suspects who had just committed the robbery. Medications belonging to the victim and the knife that was used in the robbery were recovered during the traffic stop.
Ian B. Guthrie, 18, of Leesburg, and Adam G. Kimball, 20, of Ashburn, were arrested and charged with armed robbery. Both men are held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
