Varsity recaps: March 17 games

In baseball, Trey Brocke went 3-4 with a solo homer and two RBIs in Broad Run's 11-10 loss to Hampton Christian in Norfolk.

Patrick Murphy and Kurt Reitzel had two hits a piece for the Spartans, who run their record to 1-1.

Softball

Loudoun County 19, Millbrook 9: Rochelle Latka's five hits and three runs led a barrage of Raider offense. Hope Flanagan had a triple and a homer in producing her four RBIs and four runs scored. Seven Raiders had multiple-hit games in the effort.

Briar Woods 22, Falls Church 0: In their season opener, the Falcons notched 15 runs in the first inning. Megan Stejbach, Holly Dominguez and Claire Bayles contributed two hits apiece to support a four-inning effort by Kate Fowler, who picked up the victory.

Girls' Soccer

Heritage 2, Loudoun Valley 0: Lauren Furtner faced 13 shots in garnering her first career shutout. Fellow freshmen Jessica Haley and Kaitlin Thomas scored for the Pride.
