Round Hill man sentenced for child pornography
A Round Hill man was sentenced to five years in federal prison July 11 for distributing child pornography.
Matthew King, 38, had pleaded guilty April 14 to distribution of child pornography.
Court documents show that law enforcement agents found more than 1,000 images and 80 movies containing child pornography on King's home computer, said Jim Rybicki, spokesman for the United State's Attorney's Office Eastern District of Virginia.
King also used his AOL account to send others images of child pornography. He used screen names like “BadSarah13” and “LitlHeather14” to do so, Rybicki said.
On Friday, U.S. District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema sentenced King to five years in prison, the minimum possible sentence for the crime. The maximum sentence Brinkema could have imposed was 20 years.
When King is released, he will spend another 10 years under court supervision, and he will be required to register as a sex offender anywhere he lives, works or goes to school, Rybicki said.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John Eisinger.
