PVHS orientation: Park View High School will have an orientation program for freshmen and all new students to the high school on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 6:30 p.m. For further information, please call the guidance office at 571-434-4507. The new school term will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 2., for all the public schools in the county.
Jamestown in Sterling: At Sully Elementary School, plans are under way to reconstruct the Jamestown Fort section of Discovery Park. As you know the site was damaged by fire in May. We look forward to this very important work.
Pet adoption: Are you ready to adopt a pet? If so the Loudoun County Animal Shelter will help match animals currently up for adoption 5-7 p.m. at the Sterling Community Center on Friday, Aug. 22. Please contact the shelter at www.loudoun.gov/animals for more information.
SYSA: Sterling Youth Soccer Association is accepting applications for the fall playing season. To register, visit www.sysa.net.
Bingo: We have had a few inquiries as to where to play bingo. The Knights of Columbus at 401 W. Holly Ave. have games every Tuesday evening. The doors open at 6 p.m. To learn more, please call 703-430-6789. All proceeds benefit local charities. Also, the Sterling Ruritan Club has bingo on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Ruritan Club on Ruritan Circle. Please call 703-444-6039 for information. These games also benefit charity.
Millers celebrate: Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Mike Miller, celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on Aug. 24.
Birthdays: Happy birthday to Marie Naylor and Mike Shay.
Have a good week.
