This is a pop/rock musical that tells of a young composer approaching his 30th birthday. His girlfriend wants to get married, leave the city and move to Cape Cod. His best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue and wants Jon to join corporate America, but Jon is still waiting tables while trying to write the great American musical before time and life pass him by.

'Tootleloo.' A new musical drama by Loudoun producer and actor Tom Sweitzer goes onstage Oct. 11-12 at the Franklin Park Arts Center, 36441 Blueridge View Lane in Purcellville.

"Tootleloo" was inspired by the events of Sweitzer's childhood in Altoona, Pa., as he witnessed his mother's illness and death. The production, originally staged as "Sky" at The Hill Playhouse in Middleburg, was created from Sweitzer's memory of himself as a young boy coping with the fear of losing his mother. The family members' lives were changed at the entrance of a hospice volunteer who brought love, support, hope and magic to a young child's life.

The Oct. 11 performance will be preceded by a 6 p.m. benefit reception at the Loudoun Golf & Country Club, Purcellville. A dessert reception will follow the show. Tickets are $50 per person and sponsorships are available.

A good-will donation is requested for admission to the 3 p.m. matinee Oct. 12.

The Franklin Park Arts Center box office opens Sept. 15 for both performances. Seating is limited. Call 540-338-7973.
