A 16-year-old girl from Waterford was charged with driving under the influence after a single-vehicle crash Aug. 12 left her 19-year-old male passenger in critical condition.
The girl was driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee toward U.S. 15 on Montresor Road near Garriland Drive about 11 a.m. went she lost control and went off the road. The vehicle rolled several times before stopping, Loudoun County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kraig Troxell said.

A preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was speeding, and when it left the road, the driver over-corrected and lost control, causing the vehicle to roll several times into a field, Troxell said.
Fire caused by stove that was left on
A fire Aug. 11 that caused $350,000 worth of damage to a home outside of Lovettsville was determined by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal to be accidental.
A stove was left on in the house, causing the fire, which was reported to Loudoun County Fire-Rescue at about 3:40 p.m., spokeswoman Mary Maguire said.
The Loudoun County chapter of the American Red Cross has assisted with shelter and food for the two residents who lived in the house.
