Event to raise awareness of unsolved murder postponed
The event scheduled this past weekend to raise awareness of the unsolved 2002 murder of 14-year-old Erica Heather Smith was postponed.
July 29 marked the sixth anniversary of the disappearance and murder of Erica, whose body was found 11 days later in a shallow grave in the woods by the Beaumeade Corporate Park in Ashburn.
Several co-workers of Erica's dad, William Smith, organized an event to keep the public aware of Erica's unsolved case. They were planning to hand out fliers to everyone who visits Wegmans Aug. 2-3.
However, the dates and location did not work out, so they are trying to reschedule.
