Theater


'Moon Over Buffalo': The Middleburg Players present "Moon Over Buffalo," a rollicking, fast-paced comedy by Ken Ludwig, directed by Marian Sweet, at Buchanan Hall, U.S. 50, Upperville.

Remaining performances are May 2-3 at 8 p.m. and May 4 at 3 p.m. $15, seniors and students $12.

Auditions


The Sterling Playmakers will hold auditions for Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical "Oklahoma!" Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m. at the Loudoun County Senior Center, 21060 Whitfield Place, Sterling.

The play, directed by Kathy Bleutge, will be weekends from July 25 to Aug. 10. Roles are open for ages 8 and up, although roles under age 13 are limited. Auditions include cold readings from the script, some dancing, and singing a song from the list available at www.sterlingplaymakers.com.

Not Just Shakespeare is holding auditions Monday, May 5, 7-10 p.m., for actors to play Rosalind, Audrey and Oliver in its July production of "As You Like It."

The audition will be in the Morven Park Equestrian Center Hoffman Classroom Building. The entrance is off Tutt Lane on U.S. 15 north of Leesburg.

Rosalind should look about 18 years old, with a powerful voice and command of Shakespeare's verse. Oliver is about 20, and Audrey is in her 30s or 40s.

The audition includes a one-minute monologue or reading (monologues will be provided).

Callbacks are Tuesday, May 6, at 7 p.m.

Rehearsals are June 14-July 11, Mondays-Fridays, 7-10 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tech rehearsals are July 5-11.

Performances are Saturdays and Sundays, July 12?7, at 6 p.m. at Morven Park.

The production is done in partnership with Morven Park.

'bare': The newly combined theatrical forces of College Community Theater and 2nd Flight Productions will hold auditions for the musical "bare" Monday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m., with callbacks Wednesday, May 21, at 7 p.m.  Set in a Catholic boarding school, this show centers on a group of friends during their senior year. Roommates Jason and Peter have been closet lovers for years, but now Peter wants to come out, despite Jason's apprehensions. Sex, love and lies tangle things even further. The director is Debbie Niezgoda. Audition will be in the theater in the Waddell Building on the Loudoun Campus of Northern Virginia Community College, 1000 Harry Byrd Highway in Sterling. Those auditioning should prepare a 30-second to one-minute monologue, an up-tempo rock song, a list of all conflicts between May and September, and dance-comfortable clothes for callbacks.
