Dance War winner to perform in Sterling

Phillip Bernier, 24, a member of the winning team on "Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann," will perform May 4 in Sterling.

The show will feature mostly acoustic songs written by Bernier and will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Faith Bible Church, 21393 Potomac View Road, in Sterling.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 per person.

Sterling resident Kay Bernier, Phillip's mother, said after being on the reality show earlier this year, her son wanted to perform in Sterling and give back to his hometown.

“He wants to do the whole tour thing and raise money for equipment and studio time,” Bernier said. “This is the latest performance. People should come if they want a sneak peek of his tour.”

After the performance, Bernier will head to North Dakota and then to Florida, where he has other performances scheduled on his “Do What You Dream” tour.

Members of the winning team on “Dance War” were supposed to be awarded a recording contract from Hollywood Records, Bernier's mom said, but that has yet to come to fruition.

She said that will not prevent her son from being successful though, and for now, Bernier will head off on his own to pursue his dream of becoming a recording artist.

In the fall, he plans to visit middle and high schools across the country to sing while teaching the students that you can accomplish your dreams with hard work and determination.
