Girls' lacrosse: Panthers net key victory over Raiders

By Jason S. Rufner

Potomac Falls girls' lacrosse continued its perfect Dulles District record Thursday with a 11-10 home victory over Loudoun County.

The Panthers (5-0 in the district, 9-1 overall) remain tied with the Broad Run Spartans for first place.

"We were fortunate to come out with a win," Panther coach Allan Dacanay said. "Loudoun County is extremely fast and aggressive all around."

Katie Baumgardner netted Potomac Falls' final tally with a couple of minutes left in regulation time. Goalkeeper Kathleen Harrison and the Panther defense held off the Raiders to claim victory.

It was County's second district loss of the season, dropping them into fourth place behind one-loss Dominion. The Raiders' other defeat came at the hands of the Spartans.

Potomac Falls has three games remaining on the schedule, including road trips to Dominion and Broad Run, last year's Dulles champ.
