Class Acts

The following is a list of ongoing classes available in Loudoun County. The list includes everything from dance to computer techniques: Philosophy
Chinmaya Mission Dulles Center is organizing a series of free spiritual discourses called Jnana Yajna (Sacrifice of Knowledge) by Brni. Sumati Chaitanya, Acharya of Chinmaya Mission United Kingdom. Kathopanishad (The Science of the Self) will be discussed 9-10:30 a.m. Dec. 25, 29 and 30; and 7-8:30 a.m. Dec. 24 and 26-28.  Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15 (Yoga of the Supreme Spirit) will be Dec. 23-29, 7- 8:30 p.m.
All discussions will be held at Arcola Community Center, 24328 Goshen Road, Aldie. The cost is free and children's activities are planned.

Catherine Hillis: New and expanded classes with watercolor artist Catherine Hillis begin Jan. 11. She is moving to an expanded studio in Purcellville and will now offer children’s studio art classes on Fridays as well as additional adult classes in watercolors. Her new studio is located at 107 E. Everything and the Kitchen Sink, a watercolor and mixed media master class with Catherine Hillis, will be Jan. 5-6 at Round Hill Arts Center, 6 W. Loudoun St. Nontraditional water media techniques will be explored. The cost is $150. Register by calling 540-338-5050.


Pottery classes with David Norton and Amy Oliver will be held at Round Hill Arts Center, 6 W. Loudoun St. Classes for beginners will be held through Jan. 9; intermediate students, through Jan. 7; advanced students, through Jan. 8. Tuition is $220. To register, call 540-338-5050.


Young at Art, a series of classes for children 4 and older, will be Thursdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m., at Sterling Annex Community Center, 22084 Shaw Road. Each class is $9 and registration is required. Call 703-430-6673.


KidzArt, a guided creativity curriculum for kids, is after school on Thursdays at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 37018 Glendale St., Purcellville. Music

Handbell ringers: Galilee United Methodist Church, 45425 Winding Road, Sterling, is looking for handbell ringers for its group. Practices will be Thursdays, 7-8:30 p.m., at the church. Call 703-430-2203.

Crafts

Family

The Loudoun chapter of the American Red Cross is offering “When I’m in Charge” classes to latchkey kids. The classes, which teach kids to be safe when home alone, are at Claude Moore Park, 21544 Old Vestal’s Gap Road, Sterling. Call 703-777-7171 for details.


Language
