County juvenile probation supervisor wins statewide award

The probation supervisor for the Loudoun County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Service Unit has been named the 2007 Administrator of the Year by the Virginia Juvenile Justice Association.

Stanley Stewart, who has been with Loudoun's Juvenile and Domestic Relations court system for about 29 years, received the award at a conference in Roanoke in early November. He did not know about the award ahead of time.

Stewart said that he was listening to the presenter give the background information of the award winner at the conference.

"About two to three sentences in, I thought wait a minute, that's my story," Stewart said.

He is very proud of his accomplishments.

"To receive something like that from your peers is pretty awesome," he said. "I don't think there's anything better than to be recognized by the people who work with you and see what you're doing every day."

For more on Stewart and his service to Loudoun as a probation officer and supervisor, see the Dec. 5 edition of the Loudoun Times-Mirror.
