Finally, the Rain Barrels Have Come Back to Loudoun
For those who missed out on last year's highly attended rain barrel workshops put on by the Loudoun Soil and Water Conservation District, more chances are coming to take part. Two workshops are currently scheduled for July 1st and 2nd respectively starting at 7:00 PM. Both workshops are being held at Tuscarora Creek Park located on the south side of town. There is a two barrel per household limit, and registration for the event is $50.00 per barrel. In addition to getting to take home their very own rain barrel, participants will learn about the benefits of the barrels and be guided through the construction of their barrel. Rain barrels help control excess rooftop runoff and provide a free source of water that can be used for gardens, car washing, and in the event of a power outage, toilet flushing for those living on wells! The two workshops in Leesburg are limited to town residents as the Town of Leesburg is graciously hosting and helping to foot the bill for the barrels!
To register for the events call the Loudoun Soil and Water Conservation District at 703-777-2075.
Also, for Town of Purcellville residents who missed last weekend's rain barrel workshop at the town office, a VERY LIMITED number of barrel kits are available for purchase. Inquire within at the Town of Purcellville office for more information and to check on availablity.
