Delegate Tom Rust Legislative Office to Receive LINK Food and Clothing Donations

Legislative Office Accepting Groceries, Coats, Hats, Mittens and New Unwrapped Toys
Delegate Tom Rust has announced that his legislative office, located at Town Hall, 730 Elden Street Herndon, will now be a year round drop off location for donations to support The LINK Food Pantry. During the holidays, his office will also be accepting coats, hats, mittens, and toys which will also be distributed to those less fortunate. His office is located on the 2nd floor of Town Hall and is open Monday-Friday 9 am until 5 pm.
The LINK all volunteer emergency support organization was founded in 1972 and delivers groceries to people’s homes 5 days a week all year round. Over 3,300 people are registered to receive supermarket style groceries at the LINK Thanksgiving Basket Program at Christ the Redeemer Catholic in Sterling and Trinity Presbyterian in Herndon on Saturday November 21. Clothes will be distributed at Sterling United Methodist also on November 21.
LINK will do it all over again and host the Christmas Basket Program at Christ the Redeemer Catholic and Trinity Presbyterian on Saturday December 19. New unwrapped toys will be distributed by Herndon United Methodist also on December 19. Each needy child will receive two toys while they last.
The 2008 Holiday Basket program served over 5,800 individuals, 60,000 pounds of food was collected, 1,150 coats were distributed, 3,200 toys were provided to children, 1,200 pounds of deer meat was donated, and over 500 volunteers helped make it all happen.Please call Carol Sinclair, Legislative Assistant at 703-437-9400 for more information about the donations.
