Arcola students to perform at Cherry Blossom Festival

The Arcola Elementary School chorus has been selected from thousands of applicants to perform at the 2009 Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. on April 2.

As one of the first Loudoun County elementary groups to be selected, these students will be joined by performers from all over the country.

They will sing from the Tidal Basin Stage at 1:45 and have the opportunity to see performances by the Elko HS Marching Band from Nevada and the National Hand Dance performance.

"It is a great honor to be selected from thousands of applicants across the nation," said Jennifer Leslie, Arcola's music teacher.

The 5th grade students in the choir also had the chance to sing part of their Cherry Blossom performance to the School Board at their meeting March 24 in honor of "Music in our Schools Month," celebrated in March.
